Cheap Cheerleading Uniforms And Other Dance Items

By Chasity Sheppard

If you want a way to keep fit and make friends, it is worth considering becoming a cheerleader. There are plenty of opportunities to both support other sports teams and to compete for your own group. It is not as expensive as you may think, as the clothes you need can be bought cheaply, such as cheap cheerleading uniforms.

The first thing you need to do is find a squad. There may be just one place, or there could be a larger number of people to audition. Look for advertisements of auditions, or contact the captain to express your interest.

At your audition, you may be required to follow a short routine and perform it, either alone or with other people auditioning. You may also need to perform a routine with your own choreography, but it is likely that you would be told about this in advance. Skills like the splits will usually impress the person responsible for admissions.

Most teams like to use tumbles in their routines. It would help if you could perform a basic tumble at the audition stage, although it is likely that you will be given training if you are accepted. To get a head start, try learning a move from a trampoline or gymnastics coach. You could even attend a cheer skills class so that you can really impress at the audition.

If you are successful in being accepted into a squad, you will surely need to look the part for your first event. The dress code is usually a top and skirt with shorts for underneath, but there can also be a winter option, such as a long sleeved top to wear underneath the cheer top. This will be very useful for outdoor cheers, like a football game in cold weather.

Another part of the dress code is the bow. Most teams will have one to match their outfit colours, and it can be worn with your hair up or down, or even clipped into very short hair. These can be bought in bulk by the team captain or coach, and then sold to each member of the group to make it cheaper.

Most of the events you attend will require you to wear your uniform. However, there may be exceptions, for example competitions. At later stages of the process when you have made your mark with your normal outfit, the squad may then choose to switch to a costume that thematically suits the music and style of dance moves, as this is sure to make the performance memorable.

Footwear is another important consideration. Trainers are the best thing to wear for training purposes, as you can dance as well as tumble. Usually the specified colour is white, but most squads will allow some room for logos, meaning you can search around for the cheapest deals.

Cheap cheerleading uniforms, footwear and hair bows can all be bought from a variety of stockists, and there is a high level of choice to suit different team styles and colours. The captain or coach will tell you which items you need to buy. However, some captains like to buy the items in bulk so that the team members will pay less when they buy their uniform individually.
