Generally, tendons are usually flexible, tough, and fibrous tissues connecting the muscles to the bones. When the tendons become irritated, inflamed or get microscopic tears, the condition is called tendonitis or tendinitis. Basically, tendons could be small like tiny bands found in the hands or the heavy ropelike cords in the calf or the thigh muscles. However, if a problem affecting the tendons arises, it is important to visit a Tendonitis Doctor.

Usually, in most cases, the cause of this condition of tendonitis is not known. However, when you identify the cause, it is as a result of one of the two reasons that are known. Overuse and overload are the two known reasons. Overuse arises when you repeat a specific motion often. On the other hand, overload is when a particular activity such as weight lifting increases quickly.

The condition may also be caused by certain sicknesses such as gonorrhea but in very rare cases. The condition affects mostly knees, shoulders, elbow, wrist, and heels. It may also affect the whole body in extreme cases locating every tendon in the body. It is also popular in diabetic patients through the reason as to why it happens to them has not been discovered yet. It is also associated with extreme physical activities like gardening, carpentry, scrubbing and raking and so on.

On the other hand, certain factors put one at the risk of suffering from the condition. Such factors that contribute to this condition include incorrect or wrong posturing during working sessions or poor stretching methods. Sports playing are also associated with increasing the vulnerability to the condition. The poor or abnormal placing of joints and bones causes soft tissues straining. This condition increases tendinitis occurrence risks.

Typically, anyone can get affected by tendinitis. However, it is majorly familiar in adults particularly the people above forty years of age. It is a result of the aging of tendons and thus, their ability to hold more stress reduces. Also, they can easily tear when they become less elastic. These problems can occur in any part where the tendon connects the bones and the muscles, but they are ubiquitous in the hip, thumb base, Achilles tendons as well as the knee.

This condition is characterized by certain symptoms. One of the symptoms includes pain at the tendon or the surrounding area. The pain may build up gradually or could be severe and sudden especially when there are calcium deposits present. Another symptom is a frozen shoulder or the loss of motion or movement in your shoulders.

This condition can, however, tendinitis can be avoided. When performing your physical activities you should do them slowly initially, and then build up the level of activity gradually. Another way to avoid the condition is by using limited force and repetitions.

When doctors are administering treatments, they only deal with inflammations reduction and pain relieving activities. However, you may be advised to have joint rests or have cold and hot treatment therapies. You can also use pain relievers or affected joints splinting. Surgery is also used though rarely or in case the condition fails to respond to the other treatment methods.
